The Valiant 1000 is as big as it gets for a medium frame reel, equivalent to a traditional 50 size reel like the ATD, VISX, Makaira but at just about half of the weight. These are light weight powerhouses capable of landing big tuna, marlin, and much more. They hold up to 700 yards of 130lb braid which is plenty for trolling and if you step down to 80lb or 100lb you'll have enough capacity for deep dropping.
They new models come with the rubber handle knob which is a welcome change from the small metal ball handle they used to include. The Valiants do take a bit more care to maintain in top shape, but these are high performance and light weight reels.
