The JX Raptor Plus is a great all around size for fishing in SoCal, it covers all of your heavier flylining needs along with casting surface irons, jigging, fishing dropper loop squid for seabass and much more. These reels hold about 400 yards of 65lb braid and have enough drag to fish up to 80lb. If you're going to bring one reel on an offshore trip, this is it.
The Avet Raptors have received a bit of a face lift with some ergonomic changes, the new Raptor Plus models will feature a different frame to make it easier to thumb the spool as well as a more rounded side plate which is more comfortable to hold
